The Jamaica Football Federation is saddened by the passing of Brazilian Jose Luis Camago, who worked with the Reggae Boyz on their historic journey to the FIFA World Cup 1998. Camago was an important backroom staff member of the original coaching team led by Rene Simoes. He worked in coordination with different team doctors to get the injured players active in the shortest possible time. “Jamaica’s football benefited immensely from his expertise and dedication,” commented JFF Michael Ricketts. “He worked tirelessly behind the scene to ensure that the players were fit and ready when called. I want to extend profound condolences to his son Pablo, his other family members and friends, and say a final thank you for all that he did for our football programme.” His son, Pablo Camago, also served with the National team in a similar capacity after Jose returned to Brazil.
