Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz lost 1-0 to Trinidad and Tobago in the first of two friendly international matches at Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday.
The defeat was a disappointing home debut for Reggae Boyz head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson of Iceland, who was appointed in September 2022 to prepare the team for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign.
Second-half substitute Reon Moore scored the only goal of the match.
In addition to the loss, the Reggae Boyz had a historic moment during the match as Phoenix Academy and Kingston College standout, Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, made his senior debut for the national team.
Richards, who is set to join the ranks of Chelsea Football Club, showcased his skills and potential as a valuable addition to the Reggae Boyz.
The second game will be held in Kingston on Tuesday.
