Jamaica’s Reggae Girls will be based in Melbourne, Australia, throughout the FIFA Women’s World Cup next July. The team have been placed at the Novotel Melbourne Hotel in Preston and they will have the lovely Victorian State Football Centre as their training base for the period.
FIFA gave the teams the opportunity to view and select five venues and then they made the final choices depending on logistics, travel, game venues etc.

“We are happy with where we have been placed,” said head coach Lorne Donaldson who was a part of the local delegation who viewed all the possible facilities in October. “The staff there looked like they are genuinely happy to have us. The hotel is spacious and the facilities are first class. I am sure our team and staff will be happy there. The accompanying training ground is excellent too.”

President of the JFF, Michael Ricketts, is pleased with the Team Base Camp given to Jamaica and is now ready to up the ante on preparations. “Now that we know where the team will be based, we will get into high preparation mode so that the team will have all they need to succeed. We will look at logistics, travel and overall management, so that the team can concentrate solely on the games.”
